Book Review- What to Say Next by: Julie Buxbaum

book4 out of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this quick read. It was well written and quite interesting. The characters had a sweet and beautiful connection that warmed my heart. Their connection felt extremely genuine and that only comes from a strong experienced author.

Kit has lost her father in an accident and decides one day to just sit with the “weird kid” at lunch, hoping he won’t even talk to her. They actually do talk and it becomes a beautiful relationship. David is the “weird kid” and acts in a way that seems quite normal to me, but has a few quirks that make him a little different. This book kept me interested throughout the whole thing and has some great climaxes that are surprisingly shocking and unexpected. One thing I wish had happened at the end….

SPOILER ALERT!! ……..

I wish they could have gotten over their disagreement and actually been together!! I was rooting for them so much! It would have been perfect if they actually made it without that big fight at the end. Oh well! Still a nice YA read!

Thank you to my library, Little Turtle Branch for allowing me to read this ARC.
